Special Times 🦄

What are your personal superstitions? Four times a day, I get lucky. 11:11 am/pm and 8:31 am/pm. 11:11 is popularly believed to be a portal for manifestation, and I like that all the numbers are the same. I also deemed 8:31 as lucky for me because I was born on 8/31, supposedly at 8:31 am. When I was younger, I made sure to never miss these sacred moments and took them very seriously by setting up alarms on my phone labeled “Special Time 🦄.” I always wanted to fit as much as I could within those 60 seconds. “Could I please have a kitty or a puppy, a goal in tomorrow’s soccer game, 100% on my test tomorrow, and maybe win a lottery too? Thank you so much in advance.”  Unfortunately, my wishing practices typically didn’t guarantee much. I started feeling hopeless after each special time because deep down I knew it couldn’t be that easy. If Minions Came to School

  What leader would you invite to come speak at our school? Tall and two-eyed, Kevin is the iconic leader of the minions. He is selfless and strong, resilient and reliable, and always prioritizes the safety and well-being of his fellow minions. It may seem silly to speak so highly of a yellow capsule, but I think there is actually a lot we can learn from Kevin. Leading an entire population is arguably a difficult task to undertake, making Kevin a great example of many valuable traits in leadership and community. Kevin’s actions and treatment of his colleagues in various Despicable Me films demonstrate his kind heart and complete dedication to the well-being of others. Kevin has a plethora of positive qualities, from his initiative to his intelligence. But I think the most valuable for all of society to learn from is his empathy-rooted selflessness. Society often preaches to “be kind,” “spread love, not hate,” etc. But I think we often confuse being “kind” with being “nice.” Nicenes...
